General Care Sheet
Although bearded dragons have become very popular pets over the years it remains that there has been very little scientific research done on these beautiful creatures, either in their natural habitat, or in captivity. There are excellent resources available, such as "The Bearded Dragon Manual" (Philippe de Vosjoli, Robert Mailloux) and websites that offer a variety of good information on the basic care required to raise and breed the bearded dragon. Unfortunately there is also as many different opinions and variations on dragon care as there are "breeders", not to mention several lingering myths and misconceptions, all which can make gathering accurate and reliable information confusing at best. We do not claim to be experts on bearded dragons and we only offer information based on reliable research and our own experience. The information contained on these pages is how we successfully raise our dragons.
Do you have what you need?
In setting up an enclosure, the ideal is to have the conditions as close to natural as possible. To achieve this there are several necessary items and conditions required in order for your dragon to thrive. It is extremely important to remember that as with every animal, an improper diet and/or habitat can cause a deterioration of health. We encourage all new owners to follow the information provided here, as well as research beyond this basic care sheet, to enhance your knowledge for the continuing health of your dragon.
